It was a casual Tuesday and Wednesday in springtime Britain — which, of course, meant all four seasons in a day. Sun, wind, a touch of rain, then sun again. A familiar rhythm and the kind of weather that makes you want to step inside, linger a little longer, and be part of something.

27th and 28th May, Mare Street Market King’s Cross

Upstairs at Mare Street Market King’s Cross, under soft light and chandeliers, 5’ELEVEN” Magazine opened the doors to The Islands Issue Pop-Up — a two-day preview ahead of the release of Issue 14.

The space became a quiet escape — a gallery of images taken across islands near and far: Hydra, Bali, Vrångö & Donsö, Okinawa, Sardigna, Vancouver Island, Hong Kong Island, and more. Our team and contributors travelled the world to bring back not just pictures, but atmospheres. Fragments of mood. These images lined the walls in a curated exhibition — a visual journey that told the story of our latest issue before the pages even turned.

Guests arrived and moved through the space with the new issue in hand, along with a few thoughtful takeaways — teas by Newby (English Breakfast, Jasmine Princess Green, Ginger & Lemon), and perfume and scents by Gisada Switzerland. Their candles gently perfumed the air — Rose, Iris, Imperial, Oud — while their signature fragrances (Ambassador Women, Ambassadora, and Titanium) added an elegant finishing touch. With pastries and cakes from the restaurant in hand, guests eased into the afternoon, letting time soften at the edges.

On stage, two standout performances shaped the rhythm of each day: Lusaint opened Tuesday with her soulful sound — warm, expressive, and quietly cinematic. On Wednesday, Greta Lovisa followed with rich, experimental textures that filled the room with atmosphere. Both artists echoed the tone of The Islands Issue in their own way.

We created a world for a moment. A room of movement, scent, sound, and vision. And for those who joined us — friends, readers, industry, the curious — thank you for stepping into it with us.

The Islands Issue 14 is out now. Until the next gathering.
