RED CARDINAL by Seiya Taguchi

We continue our connection with Sydney with our new online story, shot by Japanese-Australian photographer Seiya Taguchi, who says the following about the story: "Red Cardinal birds are a symbol of light in the presence of darkness. It's long been said that they appear in times of despair to encourage hope. Coming out of Sydney's second long-term lockdown, it was the first shoot back in the studio. I wanted to explore this emotional dichotomy with light. The stylists' vision was graphic monochromatic clothing with stripes and pops of red. Hard lines were juxtaposed with softened feather textures and natural pearls and precious stone jewellery creating a stylish contrast of light and shadow, of stillness and movement."
