BLEU DE CHANEL II

Gabrielle Chanel's signature, the ethos that made her and her work so alluring, was following her inner voice and defying convention. That same timeless confidence is referenced in the fragrance BLEU DE CHANEL.

Like the Maison itself, BLEU DE CHANEL has maintained its longevity by resisting trends and setting a standard with its distinctive vision of what a scent should be. Launching the Eau de Toilette in 2010 and the Eau de Parfum in 2014, the fragrance combines woody tones with citrus notes, both contemporary and classic, with the bottle's dark, sophisticated hue at once emblematic and distinctive. This scent captures Mademoiselle Chanel's unapologetic conviction and singular vision emanating through to its next chapter, where the iconic fragrance joins forces with an icon-in-the-making. Ambassador Timothée Chalamet's brightly burning star propels BLUE DE CHANEL into a new era.

What jumps out to me is identity. It’s such a topical word right now. Creative empowerment and how you style yourself to not fit in a box isn’t anything new but continues to be amplified by social media. I was thinking, as I was on my way here today, that scent is something that cannot come across in visual media. It’s one of the last bastions of creative self-expression that hasn’t been commodified in that visual space. It’s really for you—similar to how the way in which clothes feel on your body can never come across to anyone, whereas how they look and fall on your body are what comes across to everyone. - Timothée Chalamet

Renowned Photographer Mario Sorrenti captured the indefinable magnetism and delicate strength for it campaign back in June, that gave Chalamet that same timeless resonance as BLEU DE CHANEL, exemplifying everything Mademoiselle Chanel believed in. At the same time, 'Find Your Blue, Find Yourself' extends this sentiment through the vision of legendary director Martin Scorsese. Chalamet and Scorsese, two creatives who, whether in front of or behind the lens, dare to push their crafts, now combine their talents to embody the scent through the narrative of fame and authenticity with the black-and- white film representing the duality of celebrity and reality, interpretation, and truth. The campaign takes BLEU DE CHANEL into a new phase, celebrating a fragrance and artist who understands their strengths, optimises their fragility and subtleties, yet, just like Mademoiselle herself, refuses to be typecast.
