THE FABRIC OF ENDURING BEAUTY

It is perhaps no surprise that, like CHANEL, this timeless fabric called Denim originated in France. Still, when denim began its life in Nîmes in the 1600’s, little could its inventors have envisioned how their durable design would become an enduring staple, a fashion statement that would be an element of almost every wardrobe across the globe. Denim is at once resilient, versatile and appealing to all backgrounds and generations; it always surprises us. It is perhaps unsurprising, then, that another enduring innovator, CHANEL Beauty, has chosen to celebrate this iconic fabric in the Denim Collection.

Just as the fabric has a place for every personality, CHANEL’s latest collection, under the direction of Cometes Collective member Valentina Li, now takes a new shape, in the form of makeup. Through a palette of blue hues and soft, powdery pinks and metallics, each shade echoes the fabric’s inescapable allure. The house of CHANEL embodies the fine balance between timelessness and innovation, and this philosophy is reflected in the Denim Collection.

Denim is something embodies freedom and movement — qualities that feel especially important as we emerge into a season of light and renewal. Its versatility mirrors the way people want to express themselves today: effortless, adaptable, and personal. For me, translating denim into makeup this season was about capturing that energy — soft yet bold, familiar yet full of possibilities

Following this principle, ambassador Lily-Rose Depp personifies the collection’s artistic latitude; this soft, durable and expressive fabric is a constant in Lily’s style repertoire.

LOOK 1

With its ode to the fabric’s soft blues: apply Coco Denim Exclusive Creation atop cheekbones, across the nose, and brow bone, using CHANEL’s Precision Powder Brush N°107.

Eyes combine shade 2 from Les 4 Ombres Coco Jean Exclusive Creation across the eyelid, while shade 1 is applied to the inner eyelids to add shimmer and luminosity. Blended with Rounded Eyeshadow Brush N°204 will achieve a subtle effect that reflects the look of faded denim. Next, use Stylo Yeux Waterproof 38 Blue Méta across the upper eyelid and create a wing to the outer eye, blended using the Eye-Contouring Brush N°203. Apply shade 1 along the lower edge of the eye with a light brush at the inner corner. Finish the eyes with a touch of Noir Allure 97 indigo mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Add emphasis to lips with the Rouge Coco Flash 286 in Washed Beige. Nails are bold and blue with two coats of Vernis 419 Légende.

LOOK 2

Subtle yet metallic begins with a light application of Coco Denim Exclusive Creation to the tops of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and brow bone using the Precision Powder Brush N°107 for the complexion.

Metallic eyes are achieved using shade 3 from the Les 4 Ombres Denim Dream Exclusive Creation. Brush this luminous hue across the eyelid to create a radiant base. Shade number 4 is applied along the upper lid edge before blending, with shade 2 added to the inner corner of the eye and lining the upper and lower lash lines. Next, apply Stylo Yeux Waterproof 38 Bleu Métal eyeliner and finish eyes with Noir Allure 97 indigo mascara on the top and bottom lashes. 

Lips are luminous using Rouge Coco Flash 284 Baby Blue, tap around the edges with the fingertips for a blurred finish. And the finishing touch on nails is achieved by applying two coats of Le Vernis 419 Légende.

Mademoiselle Chanel captured our imaginations with one eye on the past and one on the future, and though inspiration for CHANEL’s Denim Collection comes from this its namesake, unlike the blue hue in this most enduring of fabrics, CHANEL Beauty’s allure never fades!
