Last night, 5ELEVEN Magazine and Via Ciauri came together in central London to celebrate the launch of The Craft Issue 17, the debut of Via Ciauri’s collection, and craftsmanship across fashion and culture.

All the guest’s had the opportunity to hold the issue with its 5 different printed covers before its official release on September 7th, to see, touch and feel Via Ciauri’s collection for the first time.

At the centre of the evening was Maria Di Stefano, an artisan from Piana degli Albanesi, Sicily, who joined us with her daughter to demonstrate ricamo in oro, the traditional golden embroidery of Piana. This was featured on the first cover unveiled for this very special issue and on its editorial inside about the same craftsmanship. It is as well part of Via Ciauri, drawing on the distinctive embroidery of Piana degli Albanesi into the collection that translates its intricate motifs and goldwork. Guests could watch the artisans at work and speak with both mother and daughter, offering a rare opportunity to see the technique up close. A short film accompanied this presentation, taking guests to Piana degli Albanesi through its landscapes, streets, people and traditions, the setting from which the collection emerged.

The evening continued with Sicilian food and drinks, with wines from Tuscan winery Ghino di Tacco, including their 2021 and 2020 reds, and bubbles from JB Champagne; As usual in 5ELEVEN’s events, the renowned British scent-making Penhaligon’s added their very special essences throughout, giving guests the opportunity to try a wider collections of essences; Casa Cannoli, King’s Cross-based, prepared fresh cannoli for the occasion, extending the evening’s focus even more on regional craft and tradition beyond the collection itself; Beloved K-Beauty brand COSRX and LA-based luxury body care brand Salt&Stone also supplied gift to the guest.
