QUARANTINE DIARIES with : ROCIO CRUSSET

Facetime photographed by Mathieu Puga. Words by Charlotte Coquelin.

Could you introduce yourself in a few words?

I am in the process of learning and growing, I enjoy the most being home with my family and friends but I also love creating and working hard to achieve my own goals.

How long have you been modeling for?

I started 7 years ago but I didn't start full time traveling until 5 years ago.

Where are you isolating and with who?

I’m isolating in the South of Spain with my family and my best friend. There have been tough days but honestly, this has made me be much more determined with what I want to achieve, not only in my personal life, but professional too.

What is your number one way to pass the time during the quarantine?

I am a very creative person and although I have been lucky enough to shoot a couple days from home, I have been working a lot on some personal projects that involve creating and designing and that has kept me very excited.

Did you improve your cooking skills? Could you share with us your best recipe?

100%! I was terrible in the kitchen, I have learned many recipes but the one I have cooked the most its one of my favorite pastas, very simple but tastes amazing:

1. Cut some garlic and put it in a pan with heated oil, let it fry so the oil grabs the flavour.

2. Cut an onion and add it to the pan and wait until the onion is soft.

3. Boil the pasta (spaghetti) and leave until its "al dente", this will take 5 to 6 min.

4. Add it to the pan and let it cook a little bit with the onion, bacon and garlic.

5. Add some olive oil, salt, and pepper.

6. Finish with adding a can of fresh tuna.

7. Take it out of the heat and ready to serve!

It's delicious and simple!

What do you do to stay sane?

Working out has been part of my routine for a very long time, and it has always kept me sane but, I have added yoga and meditation to my day a day and this has helped very much.

Have you done any new form of isolation shoots?

Yes, a FaceTime shoot, my best friend shooting from the phone with directions from photographers and selfies. It has been strange to shoot this way, but I love how we found a way to not lose our creativity. Nevertheless, I now value so much more the job everyone does on set.

What is the first place you want to visit once the world opens back up?

I will go back to New York. I have my life back there and I can t wait to go back.

Do you think the world will ever be the same?

I think we will go back to having the same life we used to, before we expect. We think this will change us forever, but I think it will only do so until we get used to our routine again. Of course many businesses and families have been very affected, and it won't be easy to move on. Many people have lost their loved ones in horrible conditions, and this will of course change their lives forever.

Could you recommend your top 3 books?

I have many in mind and a very long list but, I am currently reading Woody Allen 'Apropos of Nothing' and I'm really enjoying it. My favorite writer will always be Ana María Matute, any book written by her will be on my top list. Also, 'In Cold Blood' written by Truman Capote is one of my top 3.

Top 3 movies?

I love classics, such as 'La Dolce Vita'. 'The Pianist' is the movie I could watch a million times and never get bored, and 'Schindler's list' would always be on my top list .
