KOKO meets COCO
This evening, Thursday September 10th, KOKO, the legendary London music venue, became COCO as CHANEL launched the new fragrance COCO MADEMOISELLE Crush Absolu.
The uniquely curated Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu event in partnership with KOKO and The House of KOKO transformed the venue into a spectacular new world, featuring immersive theatrical performances, choreographed dancers, set design inspired by a Parisien cafe, with live music and late-night DJ sets from some of the most influential talent in contemporary music. The evening opened with Grammy-winning jazztronica duo Blue Lab Beats, followed by a stunning two song set from headline performer and acclaimed singer, Jacob Lusk of British-American trio Gabriels, including a stirring rendition of “Young Hearts Run Free”, the official track from the COCO MADEMOISELLE Crush Absolu film, and a brand-new song ‘La La’.
Late-night sets featured British House producer Lil Silva with Mercury prize winner Sampha, UK garage icon MJ Cole, East London rapper John Glacier and Canadian house music producer Jayda G.
A favourite of world-renowned musicians and a platform for rebels and punks alike, KOKO is synonymous with British music culture. Like Gabrielle Chanel, the visionary designer who continually reinvented herself, KOKO has evolved time and again since first opening its doors in 1901. Guests included, Anais Gallagher, Chloe Qisha, Earl Cave, Francesca Hayward, Greta Bellamacina, Griff, Haley Bennett, Jacoténe, Joy Crookes, Kim Turnbull, Lennon Gallagher, Lou Llobell & Ella-Rae Smith, Nia Smith, Sebastian Croft, Sophie Cookson.
KOKO, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, has always held a magnetic pull for those with a distinctive sense of style - individuals unafraid to push boundaries, much like Chanel in her youth, whose elegantly androgynous silhouette and spirited disposition captivated every gaze.
United by a shared spirit of creativity and reinvention the unique collaboration created between CHANEL and KOKO, was defined by a rebel spirit that exists between both iconic brands.
