The ravishing Bethany Duffy was scouted leaving Finsbury Park at age 16. Hesitant at first, she has
made us all very happy by deciding to give modelling a chance. A radical hair change paid off and her
refined features were hard to miss on the catwalk of Ricciardo Tisci’s Burberry. When you’ve been
rocketed into the wonderous world of fashion as an exclusive for such an iconic brand, who knows
what the future might hold? Bethany for one can’t wait to find out. We at 5’ELEVEN” Magazine were
very excited to get a moment with this cheerful young woman to talk about her first steps as a
model, Baz Luhrmann and the future of fashion.

How did you get into modelling?
I was scouted while leaving the Community Festival in Finsbury Park when I was 16. When I was approached, I was a little apprehensive, but my sister was with me and she encouraged me to go for it. When I met the team at Linden Staub I knew I had made the right decision.
What is the biggest change in your life since you began modelling?
I’m able to do so much more travelling than I did before, for example I had never even been to Paris before I started modelling and now, I get to work in, and explore, so many new countries.
What would be your dream job?
I would love to walk in a show for Chanel, that’s the dream.
Your hair used to be a lot longer. How was it for you to get a new cut?
I was very excited to change my hair and probably less nervous than people expected me to be.
You were a Burberry exclusive. Can you describe the process leading up to that? And how did it feel to walk that catwalk?
It started with a casting where I met Riccardo Tisci, the designer, and Patrizia Pilotti the casting director, who were both so friendly. I had a fitting and found out then that I had confirmed the show, which was an amazing feeling.
Walking in the show was so daunting but exciting at the same time. To be on the same runway as such amazing and successful models whilst wearing an incredible, iconic brand was such an honour.
What are your interests outside of modelling?
Live music and films are my two great loves.
If modelling had not become your path, what would you do for a living?
I always thought I would go to university to study biology and pursue a career in medical research, however for now I’m just making the most of the opportunities that modelling provides.
How would your friends and family describe you?
Hopefully optimistic and cheerful but probably also messy!
What’s your favourite place to spend the summer?
I really love Italy in the summer
If you could only watch one movie the rest of your life what would it be?
Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet
What do you think the future of the modelling industry holds?
Hopefully, it will be more aware of the source and sustainability of the clothes being worn. Climate change and environmental consciousness are becoming more and more important, and hopefully this will translate into expectations for the fashion industry as an entity to do its part in protecting the Earth.
