MARTA DEL CAÑO

Spanish looker Marta Del Caño always wanted to be part of the fashion industry. With her stunning cinematic looks it is no wonder that she has made it. In this volatile era, her longstanding career is something to respect in itself, let alone what she has achieved over the years. With clients ranging from L’Officiel, to Dolce & Gabbana she has most definitely made her mark. Growing evermore beautiful and now with a big backpack full of life experience, Marta has grown into a woman to admire. Whatever the future holds is the big unknown. The only thing that is sure is that she is far from done. Marta will sure grace the pages of countless magazines to come.

Did you always know you wanted to be a model?

The funny thing is, I started modelling because of my mother. She was researching different agencies and after a while we decided on my mother agency in Spain, View. But yes, I have always wanted to do something like this!

Is the job everything you expected it to be?

Honestly, I had no expectations, I guess I was not very conscious about what it takes. It’s true that some people starting out think that this job is all about having fun, money and beauty. And, it is not. I would say that you achieve all that after time spent working on your image, portfolio, going to tons of castings. It is a process.

What is the best experience you’ve had so far?

I’ve had so many amazing experiences, but one of the best was going to Tuscany in Italy for work. It turned out to be such a beautiful trip, in the middle of nowhere.

What part of the job do you most enjoy?

You meet so many different people, your mind expands in a massive way, it is insane. I am so grateful to be able to go travelling and work with all these creative and talented people. I have learned so much over the years.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned along the way, and who taught you?

Never take anything for granted, you never know when things are going to change. I would say I learnt that from the new generations of models, my closest friends in the industry because all of us really understand each other!

Where would you like to see yourself in five years’ time?

So many goals!!! But I have no idea about what my life will be like in five years. I want to keep working in the industry for long as it lets me, but at the same time I would love to start acting; and I also want to finish my psychology studies.

There are just too many things to do!

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of 18-year-old me for being able to go abroad alone.

What are you currently reading/watching/listening to, and what would you recommend?

I am reading “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari and have just finished watching “The People vs. OJ

Simpson”. I would recommend both of them, along with the TV show “When They See Us”, one of the most important and relevant cases to life in NYC.

If everything were free, what would you be doing right now?

That’s a tough one! Travelling.

People would be surprised to know this about me:

Well, I have quite a strong personality, normally, people don’t see that, but yes, haha.

Do you have any advice for girls who are just starting out as models?

As I said before, never take anything for granted. Be patient, and trust in yourself. And the most important thing, do not compare yourself with anyone, every model has a different career.
