MÜNN SS20

Old Truman Brewery, London. June 8th, 2019.

MÜNN was selected by SFW and BFC teams as the recipient of sponsorship to stage their AW19 show in London this June with the help of an international cast of judges. Founded in 2013 by creative director as Best Designer by representatives of Net-a-Porter, Galleries Lafayette, Selfridges, Opening Ceremony, alongside world renown press such as Sarah Maino and Anders Madsen from Vogue, Isabella Burley from Dazed, and Alexander Fury from Financial Times and AnOther Magazine.

Founded in 2013 by creative director Hyun Min Han, MÜNN is characterised by its mix of formalwear and workwear all realised with a rix palette in colour and textile. He cites 60’s tailoring as a direct influence but uses new silhouettes with unfamiliar details and layered patterns to achieve a 'luxurious defamiliarization'. Hyun-min Han graduated from Samsung Art & Design Institute (SADI) and worked with WOOYOUNGMI and LEIGH before launching his own brand.

MÜNN is stocked in many of the world’s most respected stores including; Opening Ceremony, Galeries Lafayette, Harvey Nichols, SECTS SHOP Singapore, Merci Taipei, Bauhau Hong Kong, and Drenić LLC LA. Additionally, the brand has held several pop-up shops in Galeries Lafayette Paris, Opening Ceremony, Selfridges, and I.T. In Hyun Min words: “I am deeply honoured to show in London as part of the prestigious LONDON Fashion Week and to be the first designer to take part in the SFW x LFW exchange programme. British designers Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen have been my heroes and ever since I was young I have always looked to the city as the most creative and innovative fashion capital".

Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of British Fashion Council commented: "London and Seoul Fashion Weeks share the same values of creativity and innovation; this is why we are delighted to partner on this exchange programme and look forward to working with the team to welcoming more Korean brands on the London schedule".
